History

A Legacy of Refinement

To the public eye, Lord Philemon is the embodiment of Elezen elegance. The La Melusine line, storied and dignified, is said to predate even the earliest Ishgardian chronicles. A blood line from the old days of Amdapor… with branches scattered through noble houses from Ishgard’s icy heights to the cultured spires of Old Sharlayan.Philemon himself is a man of striking presence; tall, silver-haired, with eyes the color of amethyst and a bearing that suggests both inherited privilege and personal achievement. Though he rarely speaks of his childhood, it is known that he inherited the family estate at a young age. Following the untimely loss of his parents. Stories linger of a youth spent among faded tapestries and sunlit galleries, quietly learning the secrets of the La Melusine collection while navigating the sharp, subtle politics of Ishgard’s upper echelons. By his early twenties, he was already making waves; donating rare relics to the Holy See, sponsoring up-and-coming sculptors, and hosting salons that brought together visionaries, scholars, and nobles alike. And now in his fourties, he is quite well know figure within the halls of galleries and auctions houses. Speaking still to all kind of people of all walks, from the most boldest of scholars to the most refined of nobility.

Dealer in Art and Antiques

The House of La Melusine is synonymous with the most coveted auctions and private viewings in the Pillars. Philemon transformed his ancestral home into both sanctuary and showroom, curating one of Eorzea’s most celebrated assemblages of rare art and antiquities. His discerning eye and uncompromising standards made him a sought-after advisor to the elite when it comes to art: if Philemon vouched for a piece’s authenticity, its value soared. It is said that he can trace the history of any artifact by touch alone. Recounting tales of creation and loss with such vividness that patrons are left spellbound.Collectors and adventurers alike vie for his approval, hoping to have their discoveries judged or better yet, purchased by the legendary Philemon. Scandals and forgeries have ruined lesser dealers, but Philemon’s reputation is unassailable. Rumors persist that he has never once been deceived.

Hooks

“Do you require my critical eye?”
Philemon has a critical eye on art and antiquities, seemingly to have a keen sense of knowing the validity of a work. The more story connected to it, the more he seem to reveal in it. So if you perhaps have something to show him, he is more then happy to meet up.
“Let us see what we can exchange.”
There is many things in his private collection, all from small works to large statues carved out of the hands of artists. And sometimes he wish to expand or change up his collection and if gil is not on the table if you wish to gain something from his collection, he is more then happy to have a trade. What he would ask for, all depend what you have to offer.
“Sit, and tell me your story.”
Visionaries, scholars and even just simple adventurers has always intrigued Philemon throughout his life. Their stories he always enjoyed listening to and would more then happy to offer something to drink or eat, while you can tell your stories to your heart’s content.

His True Self

Origins: The Mage War’s Forgotten Canvas

Beneath the vaulted ceilings of Ishgard’s oldest auction houses, where sunlight struggles through stained glass and whispers coil around ancient pillars, the name Philemon weaves its own legend. A Lord among nobles and scholars, dark-eyed and unreadable, trailing the faint scent of old paper and turpentine. To the world, he is the most discerning of connoisseurs, a patron whose approval can transform obscurity into fame. Collectors watch his every move, desperate for his favor and to be first among the buyers for his collections. No one suspects what truly stirs beneath his serene mask. But the soul within that elegant Elezen form is not of this age, or even this world. The truth is an old, hungry secret, flickering like candlelight behind his eyes. For “Philemon” is only the latest in a long, meticulously crafted sequence of lives; a mask worn by a Chadarnook. A voidsent whose existence predates kingdoms, churches, and even the stones of Ishgard itself.

The Howl and the Palette: Mage War Chaos

He had a few titles throughout the eons, but two stuck always. Most notable being called the Artist or even The Painter.
The Artist’s story begins not with a birth, but with a summoning. A moment of terror and longing in the early hours of the Mage War. The land was aflame, torn by rival warlocks and cataclysmic magicks. Cities rose and fell in a single breath; the very aether trembled, ripe for those who feasted on dreams and nightmares. The Artist, then nameless, crossed the thinning veil from Void to world. Drawn not by power or carnage, but by the beauty hidden in destruction: the human urge to capture loss, hope, and agony in art. He haunted battlefields and dying studios, a flicker at the edge of sight. Whispering in the ears of desperate painters and mages. He did not seduce with promises of flesh, but with visions; colors no mortal had seen, techniques that rendered the soul itself in pigment. His price was never gold or jewels. For every inspiration granted, he took something more precious: a secret, a memory, a sliver of soul. Artists would awaken from trance with hands stained and hearts hollow, their greatest masterpieces lying wet before them. Never realizing the shadow now bound to their canvas.

OOC Warning:

He will manupilate, lie and corrupt if you would get close to him. As very few people can avoid such. If you are really not comfortable with a dark character, do tell the player and the character will take a exit. Note, this is only if wanting to know his true nature, as on surface he can be polite, but if nothing in said person is sought for he would not presue it.
